Just in case you didn't realise things were going slightly wrong over the past few weeks - it has been proudly announced today that the UK is officially in Recession.
Isn't that something to be proud of? We have finally achieved what all the papers and national news programmes have been banging on about for months. A goal has been reached. Well done all involved.
I'm hoping that now we have finally entered this wonderful period of negative growth for the UK, maybe the press could focus a little more on the positive stories out there and actually start helping the country emerge from the recession.
Yes there will always be the tragic stories out there and the tales of struggling firms succumbing to the crunch - but just a little sprinkling of positivity would make all the difference.
Just from speaking to all my contacts I know there is a lot of positive news out there and surely it is our responsibility as the media to try and keep people's spirits up and show them there is light at the end of the tunnel.
As someone said on TV the other day - "If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel - get off your backside and switch it on yourself". Good advice indeed.
