Career highlights: I qualified as an industrial chemist but moved into office equipment sales. The coming computer age was obvious so I joined ICL to learn about computers, originally as a systems analyst and then as a sales person. After work in CAD and computerised automated testing, I worked for Digital, becoming responsible for the commercial side of Digital services for five years. Repton was established in 1990 as a supplier of IT products and services to financial, banking, insurance, leisure and general commercial organisations.
What do you love most about the IT industry? It is always moving, evolving and technically demanding while traditional customer service values hold enormous sway. So to become a preferred supplier and a 'trusted advisor' to major organisations is extremely flattering. When we move into our seventh, 10th and 12th year in such a role, then it is deeply satisfying.

Which individual do you most admire or respect in the IT business? Dave Cutler [developer of operating systems].
What is the biggest technology trend you anticipate in the next 12 months? Corporates will actively reduce their services spend.
What is the one thing working in the technology industry has taught you? Humility.
Where do you think the channel will be in five years time? More and more users will buy solutions not tool-kits, but the majority of major companies will still be focussed on in house delivery.
