Livingston UK director Peter Stanforth has suddenly left the rental specialist just a week after telling sources that his part of the business was about to be expanded.
Stanforth, who was director of Livingston's microwave and communications group, has not yet been replaced, according to staff at the Teddington-based reseller.
Dave Mehta, head of marketing for Stanforth's group, was unavailable for comment, but a source said: 'Peter was in Teddington talking very enthusiastically about what Livingston was about to do just a few days ago. It seems very strange that he has suddenly walked out.'
One Livingston employee, who refused to give her name, would not say if Stanforth had resigned or been sacked. 'He is no longer with the company,' she said, 'and he won't be coming back.'
John Ferguson has assumed Stanforth's role at Livingston, the Digital reseller and test equipment specialist which has been known as Livingston Hire and Livingston Rentals in previous years.
Stanforth took over after Bernard Ellett moved from his job as general manager of the microwave and communications group to become Livingston sales and marketing director, as part of a rejig in December 1994.
