Centerprise International’s chairman, Rafi Razzak, is calling for all UK white-box builders and system integrators to join forces under a common forum.
“System builders have played a valuable role in bringing technology to this country,” he said. “[The forum] will look at how we can work together on a macro level to create a much better voice of what we represent as a market. It would be a shame if all the UK system builders disappeared and there were only two or three big players left for businesses to buy their services and IT from.”
Razzak added that he hopes white-box builders and system integrators will work together to create the forum.
But Keith Warburton, executive director of the Professional Computing Association (PCA), said: “The PCA currently lobbies the UK government and the European Union on a variety of issues, most recently the Home Computing Initiative.”
Warburton added that the PCA’s members include leading UK system builders and VARs, as well as major vendors.
“We have already stated our plans and are in the process of setting up forums in the PCA to represent the needs of the different communities,” he said. “The first is for resellers, many of whom are system builders.”
Razzak said that he would welcome the opportunity to create the forum in conjunction with the PCA.
