Sun Microsystems? services and support arm, Sunservice, has signed two new resellers to its accreditation programme.
Republic of Ireland-based Horizon Open Systems ? effectively Sun?s Ireland distributor with close to 100 per cent market penetration for Sun products in the country ? was signed earlier this month, along with Reading-based Hytech.
Horizon director Gary Coburn said the new accreditation ?gives confidence to our customers that we are accepted by Sun to provide support as they move towards mission-critical systems.?
The accreditation programme requires significant in-vestment in helpdesk services and personnel training.
Ian Cochrane, Sunservice channel support programmes manager, said: ?We expect resellers to invest in those skills and resources which will enable them to offer the kind of quality service which we offer ourselves.?
In return, accredited resellers gain financial perks, dependent on the level of investment they have put into support. Resellers also get direct access to the Sunservice support infrastructure, and the opportunity to generate extra margin through Sunspectrum and Sun Education Services? training courses.
