In a deal worth $1 million, Informix Software is to use Compuserve's Internet Protocol-based IP Link service.
Informix will use the technology to send mail, transfer files and run corporate applications across a corporate IP intranet. The company has more than 4,000 employees located throughout Europe, Latin America, the Pacific Rim and the US.
Compuserve's network services division has also joined forces with Oracle to offer a value-added network to its corporate clients.The Internet service provider intends to make the end-to-end managed Interoffice-based application hosting service available during its third quarter.
Peter Van Camp, executive vice president at Compuserve, said: 'Our hosted Interoffice application service will give corporate customers the benefits of an Internet stands-based platform.'
The service will enable a corporate customer's users to dial into its secure network locally, and access the user's company data inside an Oracle Interoffice database.
