Japanese electronics and PC giant Fujitsu has taken over control of German distributor Aquarius Robotron from its subsidiary ICL. The move completes the shift in Fujitsu-ICL's PC business from ICL to Fujitsu.
The Fujitsu-ICL budget PC range T-Bird, which is manufactured by Aquarius in the former East Germany, will still sell through Fujitsu-ICL resellers in the UK. ICL's only remaining interest in the volume PC market is through control of its wholly owned distributor and Var business Technology, which the company has promised will not be transferred to Fujitsu.
Fujitsu-ICL has stated its commitment to buying local distribution and reseller companies in selected territories. Last month ICL announced it was relinquishing responsibility of its PC and low-end server arm ICL volume products to its parent Fujitsu (PC Dealer, 13 March) at the same time as it revealed a u200 million loss.
