The prices of CD-Recordable products are under pressure once more with Plasmon Data's release of its third generation CD-R for u540.
Aimed at software developers and publishers, the CDR4240 has a disk access time which is 230msec (4x random) faster than previous versions. It comes with Incat Easy CD Pro, Easy CD backup and Media Maestro multimedia software.
Stewart Vane-Tempest, Plasmon marketing and technical director, said: 'Customers expect professional software, not versions that are light on functionality. This drive is aggressively priced without compromising its features. One of the key successes of our CD-R business is that we deliver complete solutions at the right price.'
The CDR4240 is capable of multisession recording as well as fixed and variable packet writing. Other bundled systems will be released next month from u565 upwards.
