SME VARs could benefit from a new accreditation scheme being launched by trade body the National Computing Centre (NCC), which will measure resellers against an agreed set of standards.
Due to be officially launched in early 2007, Accredit UK is a quality standard by which IT purchasers can recognise competent suppliers.
Vaughan Shayler, Accredit UK programme manager, told CRN: “Although Accredit UK is not exclusively for SMEs it is our main focus to start with. Accredit UK will give smaller resellers that follow what’s accepted as good business a chance to prove that they’re working professionally.”
Irene Rutherford, sales manager for education at VAR Linetex Computers, said: “I don’t know how this accreditation will hold up against all the other ones already out there, such as Catalist and Intellect.”
