HP has enlisted 3Par chief executive David Scott to head up its StorageWorks division.
The appointment comes just over a week after the completion of HP’s merger with 3Par, with Scott taking the role of senior vice president and general manager for Storageworks.
It marks the start of Scott’s second tenure in general management at HP StorageWorks, which he left to join 3Par in 2001.
Dave Donatelli, executive vice president of enterprise servers, storage and networking at HP, said Scott’s experience at 3Par would help the hardware giant capitalise on the growth of virtualisation and cloud.
"Storage continues to be a critical aspect of IT, especially as organisations reduce the complexity of their IT environments, increase their use of virtualisation, and move towards cloud computing models through HP's Converged Infrastructure,” he said.
"David's leadership at 3Par will be critical in taking HP StorageWorks to the next level.”
