Last year the Brentford-based firm linked arms with US VAR Strategic Products and Services (SPS) and Singaporean outfit Jebsen and Jessen to form the Intelligent Communications Alliance (ICA). The organisation's raison d'être is to pick up hefty Avaya contracts coming up for grabs as the vendor moves away from direct sales.
Datapoint's technology solutions director Paul Brewer claimed the ICA has already sealed a number of hefty deals. A "US-based retailer with a strong presence across the globe" is one customer, he said.
"We are also delivering across Europe and the US for two legal firms. We have proven the model works from the feedback [we have had] from customers."
Brewer claimed that a couple of contracts won so far are ex-Avaya direct deals, but stressed that "most of them are new business". He added that Datapoint's new-look management line-up and the company's strategic push towards services provision did not affect its ongoing commitment to the ICA.
"It remains a really important part of what we do," he explained. "We are working very closely together and delivering more and more global opportunities. It is not just something we put our names to and pay lip service to."
Datapoint currently operates in the UK, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands. The integrator's 2011 financial year began this month and a key target will be beefing up its presence in mainland Europe, said Brewer. Sales targets are based on organic growth, he added, but the firm " would not rule out an acquisition".
"We remain committed to the seven territories and are continuing to invest in those," he said. "The European expansion will continue."
