Optical drive supplier Maxoptix has launched an advisory service that covers the legal storage and transmission of electronic documents for companies which follow the British Standards Institution's (BSI) new code of practice.
The BSI code PD008 offers guidelines on digital voice, multimedia and optical storage systems, and will evolve as the technology matures.
The Maxoptix advisory service is aimed at systems integrators which need to know the legal position on the products they supply and the users that may use stored documents as legal evidence.
Brian Blanchard, MD of Maxoptix Europe, said: 'Compliance with the new code will be important for organisations that need to maintain accurate and legal records.' The code states that electronically held documents are admissible as evidence in courts.
