Security appliance vendor NetScreen is hoping to blow away the competition in 2004 by launching a raft of new products aimed at penetrating new markets and increasing channel revenue.
In response to feedback from partners and customers, the firm has launched entry-level versions of its NetScreen 25, 50, 204, 208 and 500 enterprise products.
Peter Crowcombe, director of EMEA marketing at NetScreen, said: "These Baseline versions allow medium enterprise customers to get the same product as the larger enterprises, but tailored to suit their business needs."
Crowcombe said the Baseline devices include firewalls, IP security, virtual private networks, denial-of-service protection and traffic-management features, and can be upgraded easily to the Enterprise version if a firm expands.
NetScreen has also launched the NetScreen-5GT Extended and the NetScreen-Hardware Security Client, designed to address the specific security, flexibility and management needs of large enterprises and service providers looking to secure fixed telecommuter and remote office locations.
"Remote working is a huge revenue area. We hope to take more market share from Check Point, Nokia and Cisco, as well as SonicWall and WatchGuard, and intend to use our partners to help us," Crowcombe said.
He added that NetScreen is looking to widen its channel reach in 2004. It plans to work closely with its distributors to recruit resellers that work with competitors or sell a limited number of NetScreen products.
Lee Harrison, business development director at distributor e92plus, said: "Not only does NetScreen provide us with something that competes with the big boys, but it gives us something to win with as well."
Separately, NetScreen's Secure Access Products Group has launched version 4.0 of its Instant Virtual Extranet platform, which is aimed at the remote working marketplace.
