Accountancy software vendor Scala is in talks with one of its UK resellers, Crawley-based LSI Computer Systems, with a view to merging both firms.
The management of LSI, one of Scala?s biggest resellers, is understood to be stepping in to replace the management team at the troubled vendor. The UK arm of Scala was shaken up when MD David Carver, channel business manager Helen Handley, and direct sales manager George White left the company in April.
One source said the main reason for the purchase of LSI was to provide new management and infrastructure. ?Scala is very short on resources, and LSI knows the business very well.? Bob Smith, acting MD at Scala, is an ex-LSI employee.
In a statement, Smith claimed the merger would help increase Scala?s channel: ?Our UK operation needs to focus on two important areas: developing relationships with corporate clients and strengthening our third-party dealer network.?
