Counterpane Internet Security has signed reseller Vistorm to sell its web monitoring service, in addition to its appointment of managed security service provider Marconi SecurTrust last month.
Counterpane's managed service provides users with network security monitoring. Resellers benefit from subscription revenues as well as add-on income.
Vistorm is a value-added reseller of managed security and believes the Counterpane product fits in neatly as a new layer to its offering.
Ian McKenzie, head of marketing for internet services at Vistorm, said demand from existing customers for this type of service was the main driver behind the deal. "It provides us with a high-end vulnerability assessment tool that integrates with our other managed offerings," he said.
Counterpane's service has been included by Cisco in its partner programme, which guarantees seamless integration with Cisco networking systems, among others.
Peter Crowcombe, UK director of marketing at Counterpane, said: "We have signed [Vistorm] because it is a leader in the security market and will help add value to our managed security monitoring."
Crowcombe added that the relationship sits neatly with Counterpane's vendor relationships with Nokia and Check Point, because Vistorm has a distribution arrangement with them.
