Shortcuts ICB offers a good Alternative
Fixed and mobile communications firm Alternative Networks has acquired Integrated Communications for Business (ICB), a mobile and fixed-line telecoms service provider, for an initial consideration of £6m. The agreement also includes a deferred consideration of up to £5m dependent on the future profitability of ICB.
DiMascio joins Nortel
Nortel has appointed Mario DiMascio as its vice-president of enterprise sales. DiMascio will lead and set strategic direction for Nortel’s direct-sales team in the UK. He joins the telecoms vendor from 3Com, where he was director of system sales, UK and Ireland.
Intec hails CABS
Intec, a software vendor for communications networks, has implemented its InterconnecT CABS CG in an ASP model for US firm Cox Communications. Ron Whited, executive director at Cox Communications, said: “Intec offers a variety of cost-effective business models for deployment of its CABS solution.”
Amcat on Qualitel’s street
Call centre technology vendor Amcat has supplied new contact centre technology to business-to-business mobile telephony service provider Qualitel. Steve Dono, sales director at Qualitel, said: “Since installing Amcat’s system our call rate has already improved by over 300 per cent to around 45 minutes of talk-time per hour.”
Artful to play Claranet
UK-based ISP Claranet has acquired managed hosting firm Artful for an undisclosed sum. French-based Artful manages hosted applications covering databases, intranets, extranets, web sites and enterprise systems. In April, Claranet acquired vendor Via Net.Works for $27m after it was warned it was running out of cash.
Ready, headset, go
Telecoms reseller Actimax has launched a dedicated headset sales department. Actimax said the move was a natural progression. Managing director John Massey said: “In equipment terms, headsets were items we didn’t supply specifically but with new health and safety legislation imminent, many more office-based staff will be using headsets.”
