Security vendor McAfee has unveiled a managed anti-virus security service for SMEs.
The service forms part of McAfee's Security Alliance global partner programme, and includes web-based administration and reporting, spyware detection and support from McAfee Avert.
"We wanted to make it easier for resellers to sell managed services. They can remotely access reports on end-users' systems and then feed information back," said Sal Viveros, SME marketing at McAfee EMEA.
The service, aimed at businesses with limited IT expertise or staff, provides VARs with constant upselling opportunities, he claimed.
McAfee has also built a kickback into the programme, giving resellers one euro for every user signed to the service.
However, Viveros admitted that the service is designed for 50 users and below. Therefore rewards will not amount to more than €50.
Mukesh Gupta, managing director at e92plus, said: "Managed security services are what SMEs are looking for. They don't want to face the hassle of management when a reseller can provide them with a security service for a monthly fee."
