Vistorm security alliance
Security firms BlackSpider Technologies and Vistorm have teamed up to offer a managed email security service to Vistorm’s customer base. Vistorm MailControl will offer protection against virus infection, spam, content filtering and email encryption services. Vistorm will offer technical support for BlackSpider’s MailControl email security service.
Teleware turns to services
Telephony software provider TeleWare is hoping to move its business towards a more services-based model. It claims to have extended its channel over the past 18 months, but hopes to work with resellers on more than a simple ‘box-shifting’ capacity to land more Voice over IP contract wins.
Omnipod joins MessageLabs
MessageLabs is to acquire enterprise instant messaging services firm Omnipod, for an undisclosed sum. MessageLabs said the move will provide its 800 channel partners with a comprehensive suite of managed email, web and instant message services.
Q1 profits drop for Sun
Sun posted a net loss of $123m last week for its fiscal first quarter, which ended 25 September 2005. Turnover rose 3.7 per cent to $2.73bn, while cash flow from operations for the first quarter was $224m, and cash and marketable debt securities balance at the end of the quarter was $4.53bn.
DoubleTake aids Allied
Allied Bakeries, one of the UK’s largest bakeries, has solved its disaster recovery needs by using NSI Software’s Double-Take solution, a data replication product that is supplied to the European market by Sunbelt Software. A bespoke server and data backup system was developed to cover all 13 bakeries throughout the UK, as well as Allied’s IT shared services centre based in Liverpool.
VoIP firm headed to MS
Microsoft has agreed to acquire media-streams.com AG, a software company based in Zurich that develops communications applications based on voice over IP technology. The firm plans to incorporate the technology to speed the delivery of its unified communications vision.
