Stock sourcing tool IT Dealer has launched a new iPhone app that it says will help resellers speed up fulfilment on the move.
The app will allow resellers to access the latest stock information available through UK distributors, as well as pricing information, on their iPhone.
But VARs will still need to visit the web site for more detailed information such as bulk search and a quote manager. The app itself is free to download from the Apple store, but resellers would need to subscribe to the full IT Dealer service to unleash the full benefits.
Rickie Sehgal, managing director of IT Dealer, said: "There is information available on around 800,000 items. This will help empower the sales guys on the road, allowing them to do an instant initial investigation into the products their customers need."
Sehgal said IT Dealer has between 70 and 80 distributors signed up to its service.
"We are the fuel for the e-commerce engine, helping with the management of all that data," he said.
He added that IT Dealer is planning to launch it across Europe in the near future to encourage more cross-country trade.
The firm is also looking at developing applications for other platforms such as the BlackBerry, according to Sehgal.
VAR Shift F7 was selected to pilot the iPhone app and gave it a thumbs-up.
Nigel Lomas, director at the Surrey-based firm, said: "The ability to check stock from our nominated distributors on the iPhone is saving time and resources. We can now provide our customers with accurate information about product availability on complex multi-vendor systems, even when we are not in front of our computers.
"We have been using IT Dealer for over five years and it has proven to be one of the most popular applications for our sales and purchasing team. The introduction of the iPhone app will only further enhance it."
