Unified communications (UC) security vendor Sipera has added VAD Wick Hill to its UK distribution line-up.
The Texas-based manufacturer launched into the European channel last year and is already distributed in the UK by worldwide partner Westcon. Former Westcon man Bernie Dodwell joined Sipera as the firm's first EMEA director of channels in February 2009.
Dodwell said: “Applications such as VoIP, video and collaboration must be able to operate in real time, while remaining secure and private. With Sipera’s solutions, companies deploying UC are not forced to make a trade-off between performance and security. Wick Hill’s expertise and success in delivering both security and UC solutions make them an ideal partner for Sipera."
Wick Hill will be taking stock of the vendor's UC-Sec plug-and-play appliances, which are designed to provide centralised security management for all communications devices. The Woking-based VAD will also sell Sipera SLiC, which aims to address smartphone security.
Wick Hill chairman Ian Kilpatrick said: “Security fears have deterred many companies from moving towards UC, despite the obvious productivity and cost benefits. Sipera squarely tackles the security issues and provides the means for organisations to move with confidence towards a converged network, while maintaining security and compliance.”
