Distributor ScanSource Europe has launched a matchmaking tool for its VAR, vendor and ISV partners.
Encompassing a Google search appliance, SUMO is billed as an online networking community and is supported by all of ScanSource’s business units in all geographies including the UK. ScanSource derives much of its UK presence from 2008 acquisition MTV Telecom.
The idea is to allow partners to hook up with counterparts in other technologies and geographies to help them strengthen their offerings.
Bobby McLain, vice president of marketing at ScanSource, said: “We are seeing more and more members of our channel explore partnerships as a means to extend their sales and support ‘reach’ and be competitive in more deals and opportunities.
“SUMO allows VARs to easily explore and broker new relationships that can enhance their offering, in essence taking the networking opportunities typically afforded only at conferences and trade shows and putting it at their fingertips 24 hours a day.”
Hardware vendors can also use SUMO to locate VARs with specific skillsets in a particular geography, the distributor said. It added that it is currently accepting technology providers into the SUMO community.
