Hard drive vendor Freecom has launched a raft of new products that it has claimed will help its VARs to avoid the low margins of commoditised storage offerings.
Last week the vendor launched its Wireless DataTank Gateway 1TB, Mobile Drive Pro, ToughDrive Pro and Wireless Network MediaPlayer.
Andy McCarthy, business development manager at Freecom, said: 'We are encouraging our VARs to sell these products into the consumer and SME sectors. Our homes are increasingly digital, and consumers and firms are now demanding more feature-rich products; we have to move away from selling low-margin entry-level hard drives.'
McCarthy said the vendor relaunched its partner programme back in January and is currently evaluating its 20 or so resellers, although he admitted that some resellers on the scheme may be replaced.
