Storage specialist SST has extended its Raid product range, with the addition of the Xyratex R9000 system.
The system supports Raid levels 0, 1, 3 and 5. With up to 4.3Gb units housed in a single, compact tower, it can be expanded to 60Gb with the addition of a second seven-unit tower.
A front panel indicator, and front access to all components, is lockable for security purposes. In the event of any failures, hard drives, power supplies and cooling fans can be hot-swapped while the system is online.
A typical R9000 system delivers up to 1,000 I/Os per second and supports up to 32Mb of write cache, fast wide Scsi-2 host and two fast wide Scsi-2 drive buses. It will connect to any system that supports a Scsi drive.
Jim Spooner, SST's technical marketing director, said: 'The rapid and substantial increase in demand for online data storage over the past 12 months has led to a tremendous growth in the Raid market.'
