Birmingham-based distributor Nationwide Cables has created a separate division in an effort to increase its turnover of voice, data and networking products eightfold.
Last year, the flagging cabling division sold #6 million of structured cabling systems and associated networking accessories, but with the creation of its data networking division, Datawide, along with recruitment of industry experts, it aims to increase that figure to #50 million.
?We didn?t have the right calibre of people. We have brought in a new skill set to ensure our commitment to delivering product correctly and on time will be achieved,? said Datawide?s recently appointed business manager David Stockley, adding that its four-man sales team would concentrate on making customers more aware of its product range.
Nationwide Cables is the specialist arm of UK electrical distributor Newey & Eyre, which is owned by the Dutch pan-European distributor Hagemeyer.
Datawide will continue to buy from the same vendors used by Nationwide Cables, continuing its partnership with ITT, Panduit and BICC.
