Tape backup vendor Spectra Logic has poached one of rival Quantum's directors to oversee its European sales activities.
In his new role, Mackey will be charged with helping the firm achieve its growth targets for the year ahead, said Brian Grainger, vice president of worldwide sales at Spectra Logic.
"[The company] is looking to build on an extremely successful year of growth, and the appointment of Steve to lead our business in Europe and Africa will be a key component in delivering our strategy in these regions," said Grainger.
"He combines technical and business acumen with a deep understanding of the channel and other routes to market that will allow Spectra Logic to significantly expand globally."
Mackey added: "This is an exciting time to be joining Spectra Logic, a company that has established tape as the archiving medium of choice."
