Avnet Technology Solutions has launched a scheme designed to equip VARs with the knowledge needed to crack the healthcare vertical.
Aimed both at partners already operating in the sector and newcomers, HealthPath is the first of several industry specialisation practices the distributor plans to launch in the UK.
The scheme will give VARs access to advice from former and current healthcare professionals and consultants, as well as offering solutions tailored to the vertical.
With the NHS facing the Nicholson Challenge to achieve four per cent savings year on year, the channel will need to prove new solutions will save money and improve patient care, the distributor said.
Peter Blythe, solutions development manager at Avnet Technology Solutions, UK, said: "Understanding the challenges facing healthcare organisations and knowing who the key influencers and decision makers are will enable business partners to advise customers on allocating funds to solutions that solve current issues."
Steve Wragg, chairman of an NHS Foundation Trust, spoke at the first Avnet UK HealthPath University training session in May.
He said: "Avnet's HealthPath is an important initiative, bringing together business partners, vendors and industry specialists and giving them a broad overview of health sector dynamics.
"With this understanding, they can create technology solutions that are relevant now and in the future."
