Avnet has continued its acquisition spree by inking a deal to take over IBM business analytics specialist BrightStar Partners (BSP).
BSP operates as both an IBM reseller and an ISV, and marks Avnet's fifth VAR or ISV purchase this year, following its acquisitions of Ascendant Technologies, Canvas Systems, Pepperweed Consulting and Mattelli.
The distribution giant said the takeover will enhance the depth of its IBM services capabilities, which will benefit its vendor and reseller partners.
BSP, which generated $10m (£6.2m) revenue in 2011, is expected to integrate into Avnet's Americas services organisation and grow the distributor's earnings with immediate effect.
Jeff Bawol, Avnet's Americas president, said: "This acquisition is part of our long-term strategy to enhance the depth and breadth of our IBM services and software capabilities while providing the expertise our partners need.
"BSP complements the offerings available through our recent acquisition of Ascendant Technology... our ability to provide a complete solution of software, services and hardware will drive growth for our suppliers and VARs."
