Organisations are interested in outsourcing BYOD maintenance and support despite their related security fears, according to a supplier survey.
Darren Briscoe (pictured), technical director at third-party support services provider Comms-care, said end-user customers are demonstrating a greater willingness to embrace a BYOD policy to let staff use their own gadgets at work.
"However, security fears are still a major concern. Outsourcing the maintenance and support of BYOD can help to reduce the cost of running a BYOD programme and relieve companies of direct responsibility for securing devices," he added.
"A growing number of our channel partners' end-user customers are choosing to avoid the hassle of BYOD maintenance by relying more on IT support providers."
Briscoe's comments are based on an industry survey with 292 channel-company respondents, carried out by Comms-care. About 40 per cent without a BYOD policy said they were planning to develop one in the next three months.
"This provides us with an incredible opportunity to support this new trend and help companies revolutionise how and where their employees work," Briscoe said.
Some 35 per cent of respondents to the poll said they believed their customers were increasingly choosing to outsource IT services. When it came to BYOD, 19 per cent were outsourcing maintenance support.
Of those who said they did not currently do BYOD, 17 per cent indicated they planned to outsource maintenance support in future. Forty-four per cent cited security fears as the biggest barrier to adoption for end-user customers.
