VAR BT Engage IT has launched a managed infrastructure-as-a-service offering based on HP's Converged Cloud platform.
Powered by HP CloudSystem, BT Managed Compute is designed to help UK businesses lower their capex requirements in favour of opex by migrating to the cloud.
CloudSystem includes 3PAR StoreServ V400 Storage and HP 3PAR Thin Provisioning software, which HP said will allow BT Engage IT to control costs by purchasing only the disk capacity it needs, as it requires it.
BT Managed Compute will form part of the BT Compute family of solutions, said BT Engage IT chief executive Rich Lowe.
"Our investment in HP CloudSystem, coupled with BT's managed WAN capability, allows our customers to leverage the cloud in a controlled manner and meaningfully aggregate end-to-end service performance," he said.
Michael Clifford, cloud director of HP UK&I, added: "Organisations worldwide are turning to HP Converged Cloud to effectively manage any cloud computing environment – public, private or hybrid – and rapidly deliver new services.
"HP and BT Engage IT have a long history of working together to drive the future of IT in the UK. Innovative technologies, proven expertise and a wide range of capabilities put HP and BT Engage IT in a position to lead tomorrow's data transformations."
