Ingram Micro has appointed Paul Read to the role of president and chief operating officer in a move the distributor hopes will free up chief exec Alain Monie to plot further growth.
Read joined the distribution giant's board of directors a year ago, a role from which he has stood down in light of the new job, which he begins next Monday.
He will report directly to Ingram boss Monie, who hopes the new starter will free him up to plot further growth and plan strategic opportunities.
The new president will be in charge of worldwide IT distribution and associated support divisions, and all regional presidents will report to him.
Prior to his appointment, Read (pictured) was chief financial officer at IT manufacturer and distributor Flextronics.
In light of Read's new role, current Ingram chief financial officer Bill Humes will continue his role as well as take on responsibility for the distie's shared services centres and sourcing operations.
