Palo Alto Networks has lured in another big beast from reseller-land to help grow its UK business in the shape of former Dimension Data sales director Scott Cutler.
Cutler will join the next-generation firewall vendor on 1 February as enterprise sales director, working alongside major accounts director Andy Mills, himself a former reseller bigwig.
Cutler has been tasked with growing Palo Alto's six-strong enterprise sales team, which drums up opportunities for resellers among firms with over 1,000 staff. He left Didata in December after eight years at the networking VAR.
Vice president of western Europe Alex Raistrick said filling management posts with former reseller staff is a deliberate ploy to ensure the vendor stays in tune with its partner community.
"Our business is growing quickly and we need to have good second-level management in place to hire and expand the team and share knowledge," he said.
"We are 100 per cent channel. It is really important for me that my whole team works closely with the partner world as they are our lifeblood. We need to have people who understand what our partners want. I saw Scott was available before Christmas and based on where he comes from, he is a great hire for us."
Since touching down in the UK in 2009, Palo Alto's local headcount has swelled to the late 30s and Raistrick indicated that staff are continuing to be added "hand over fist".
"My biggest challenge is finding good people and adding them," he said.
