Avnet’s $11bn Technology Solutions arm has a new global boss in the form of Patrick Zammit.
Zammit (pictured) will take the reins from Avnet veteran Phil Gallagher, who announced he was standing down from the role of global president for Avnet TS in September.
Having previously been EMEA president at Avnet’s other operating group, Electronics Marketing, French national Zammit will now be responsible for the strategic direction, day-to-day operations and performance of Avnet TS globally.
From his base in Belgium, Zammitt will report into Avnet chief executive Rick Hamada.
Hamada said: “I believe Patrick is the right leader to take advantage of new opportunities for profitable growth at Avnet Technology Solutions which will contribute to the long-term success of Avnet.
"His achievements as president of Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA include a significant increase in profitability as well as increases in market share in both the semiconductor and IP&E markets. He has expertise in managing complex multicultural and geographic markets and is known as a passionate business leader with the ability to develop strategies that deliver market-leading results.”
For its fiscal Q1 ending 27 September, Avnet TS posted flat operating profits of $62.4m on revenues that inched up 2.4 per cent year on year to $2.47bn.
