Avnet Technology Solutions has enlisted former Dimension Data director Danny Yeowell to run its security and networking business unit.
Yeowell (pictured) was solutions director at Dimension Data and before that headed up pre-sales and architecture at Logicalis for six years.
Avnet's previous security and networking boss, Phil Soane, left to join security vendor Fortinet last autumn, following in the footsteps of his predecessor Carl Berry. In the intervening period, the unit was run by Avnet TS UK sales director Christian Curtis.
Avnet claims it has seen double-digit growth in security and networking in the last year and said Yeowell will be responsible for bolstering that growth. Vendors it carries include Cisco, F5 Networks, Check Point, Symantec and Riverbed.
"Danny has considerable experience in an area of the market that presents significant opportunity and where we have high ambitions to accelerate growth for our partners and suppliers," said Curtis.
"Security and networking is pervasive to all areas of technology and none more so than next generation, where huge growth is predicted."
