Which competitors do the CEOs of Cohesity, Extreme Networks, Rubrik and eight other tech firms have a grudging admiration for? CRN's newly launched sister publication, Channel Partner Insight, has been busy quizzing them to find out.

Tech CEOs have to be experts not only in their own firm's technology and strategy, but also that of their peers.

To mark its launch, CRN's new sister title, Channel Partner Insight, has been busy grilling the industry's biggest cheeses on which of their competitors - or fellow tech firms - they hold in the highest esteem, and why.

The full article can be read here, but here is a taster:

1. Nominator: Mohit Aron, CEO of Cohesity

Nominee: Veeam

"Just like the smartphone which, when it came out, didn't have anything to compete with it - because no one did quite what the smartphone did - we're displacing the legacy incumbents.

"Similarly, we've come out with a hyperconverged platform, but we start off with displacing backups. So while we don't have direct competitors, I respect Veeam; it's a great SMB product.

"I think they've done a really great job in the SMB space. And it's hard to build a big business in the SMB space and they've done it...They made their product really simple and downloadable from the web and did the right kind of marketing…We see them sometimes as they're trying to go into the enterprise space, but I respect what they've done in the SMB space."
