Career so far I started in distribution in 2003 at Clarity Technology, part of Horizon Technology Group, which was acquired by Avnet in 2008. My responsibilities cover a number of technology areas: unified communications, open storage, networking and security, wireless and mobility, and Microsoft. Prior to distribution I worked in reseller organisations selling to end users.

If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be and what would you do? Probably Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg. She has one of the most exciting jobs in the whole of tech at the moment, with the opportunity to take a company that has quite literally been a phenomena and shape it into not only a major global company and brand, but one that can help change so many lives for the better.

Cloud - friend or foe? Friend. Of course, there will be changes to the channel model as the cloud proposition matures, but I believe incisive partners who are re-engineering their businesses now for the cloud will succeed and profit handsomely.

Has 2011 been as bad as everyone said it would be? There is no denying it has been tough but I am fortunate to be involved in some high growth areas such as networking and storage.

What would you have as your last meal? A shellfish platter with lots of champagne.

Who would you like to be stuck in a lift with? As a lift can take up to 10 people there are a few I wouldn't mind being stuck with: Jack Whitehall, to keep me laughing and take my mind off being trapped in a confined space; Carly Fiorina, to discover what it was like to head-up HP and be one of the most powerful women in the tech industry; Sir David Attenborough, just because of what he has achieved, where he's been and what he's seen; Richard Branson, to hear how he was able to juggle creating so many hugely successful global businesses while taking on death-defying adventures and stunts; and finally, a lift repair engineer - you can probably work out why.

Have any of your predictions come true this year? There was a riot!
What do you see as the channel's biggest challenge in 2012? Cloud remuneration.
What is the best part of your day? If I can get home in time to see my two daughters (three years and 20 months) before they go to bed, that is great.
