UK channel director, EMC
Career so far
Since joining EMC in 2001 I have worked across the business before becoming part of the channel team. Prior to this, I worked for Xerox for 17 years.
What was your first job and were you any good at it?
An engineering mechanical design engineer role, but unfortunately I wasn’t very good at it. I helped to design a torpedo for shipping that ended up chasing after a whale.
Who was your top teenage pin-up?
Jamie Lee Curtis.
My colleagues won’t know this about me but…
I played for the England under-16 basketball team against Scotland and Austria and despite my best efforts as point guard we lost both games.
What is your favourite snack? Egg and chips with a side portion of spam. For a snack it would be mixed nuts and raisins.
What has been your career high point to date?
It has to be the job I’m currently doing because it involves building a programme that creates impact for EMC and our partners.
Has 2013 been good, bad or ugly?
It has been a really great year from my perspective. The growth that EMC has delivered for its partners and the building blocks we’ve put in place differentiates our offering, setting us in a strong place for 2014.
What do you say when asked at a party what you do for a living? I run the sales teams for a software and hardware company.
If I wasn’t working in the channel I would probably be…
Running a restaurant that focuses on creating delicious food from the best ingredients, but simply cooked.
What will be the channel’s biggest challenge in 2014?
Balancing the conundrum of retaining your core product offering, delivering value in the cloud, along with new services and overall profitability.
