Managing director, Logicalis UK

What was the worst job you have ever had?

Working at a dairy farm when I was a student. It consisted of long hours, drinking milk and endless hot and sweaty work.

Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life?

At a push, I would have to say Hugh Grant, or just someone else with a sense of humour. It's important to not take yourself too seriously and be able to take a step back and laugh at yourself once in a while.

What do you do as your party trick?

It depends on how far along the night is, and how many beers I've had. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do that anyone else couldn't.
What is your favourite chocolate bar? My all-time favourite is a blue biscuit Boost bar. There's nothing better.

What has been the highlight of your career to date?

Working with a really great bunch of people. I've been lucky enough to have a long and exciting career with Logicalis so far, which has been made even more enjoyable due to the amazing team around me.

Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year?

2014 has without a doubt been all three at different times. This year has been a real mixture of the highs and lows that come with losing and winning deals, but I think you've got to accept that it's all part of the journey. And for sure, I'm pleased to report that the highs have definitely outweighed any lows.

How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death?

Impossible.

Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... a rock star. I would love to be able to play guitar, or front a rock band. Playing to a huge crowd would be incredible, even if it were just for one day. Unfortunately, I'm void of any musical talent, which might be a deal breaker.

What major issues will the channel face in 2015?

The biggest obstacle to overcome at the moment is the fact that the IT market is changing rapidly - faster than it ever has. Cloud is finally becoming mainstream, everything is now being driven by software - it's all change, all the time. This change is bringing plenty of opportunities for IT as-a-service though, which is obviously great for us. So I'd say that the biggest challenge - the sheer rate of change in the industry - is the biggest opportunity. It's about constantly adapting to keep up with, and more importantly, stay ahead of the market.
