What is your greatest career move to date?
Joining Ultima as chief executive - amazing people and huge opportunities.
What is top of your bucket list?
Playing Augusta National en route to doing a full Lions tour in Australia.
What has changed most since you started working in the channel?
Speed and Impact. Speed - the decisions we make now will have no more than 6-12 months before they become stale or irrelevant; change is constant. Impact - we have arrived at a time in the evolution of technology that allows almost any creative ideas to deliver real business impact quickly and globally.
How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?
Short-term economic uncertainty is always unhelpful, but long-term technology impact for all industries in an increasingly global market will make IT channels more relevant than ever before. The cloud is multi-vendor and multi-country by design.
What is your least favourite task during the working day?
Finding plug sockets - battery technology is still painfully behind user needs.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
An eagle, primarily to get over my fear of heights and avoid traffic jams.
If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?
Secure my family financially and then start a foundation to support my choice of charities.
What is your worst habit?
Eating more than I need.
How has 2016 been for you?
The best year in my life to date - carpe diem. My wife, kids, family and labrador are all heathy and happy. Never forget how lucky we are.
If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?
Own a quality vineyard - the antithesis of speed.
What major issues will the channel face in 2017?
The constant drive to stay ahead of a market that is changing every six months. Relentlessly innovate, adapt and stay focused on whatever is your core business proposition. Don't be distracted by all the shiny objects out there.
