Managing director, Comparex UK
Tell us something most people won't know about you
My favourite suit is my wetsuit… cliché but true. Surfing is something our family does together and those are always good times.
What has been your highlight of 2018 so far?
Closing out a successful FY18. We've made incredible progress in a short space of time. The Comparex culture and camaraderie (local and across the worldwide group) is excellent and there's real passion for our future as an MSP. It's a very exciting environment to be in.
Who would play you in the film of your life?
No one looking for an Oscar.
Which tech firm (other than your own!) do you most admire?
It's hard not to be inspired by the way Microsoft has evolved its business over the years. As a partner, we're in one of the most exciting times in its history. If you're agile, smart and committed, it's a great place to be.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Chocolate, it's a terrible family trait. Easter is a testing time. I'm not proud to say I have stolen candy from multiple babies. Sorry kids.
What is the most irritating tech buzzphrase of 2018?
‘GDPR'. Nothing to do with its importance or relevance but the relentless emails in both work and private mail boxes.
What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?
A second Brexit referendum. Regardless of which side you sit, a second vote based on facts and a deal (or lack of), with an electoral turnout featuring a higher proportion of the previously missing youth vote feels like a good way to start a more unified journey, whether that's stay or leave. I'd take the Scottish approach and drop eligibility to 16.
What's the biggest untapped opportunity facing the channel?
Unlocking the true potential in our people. With that in your corner, the sky's the limit.
What is your most treasured possession?
My custom Triumph Bonneville. Long, low and loud. More art than motorcycle, it's a thing of beauty. Working on it or riding it, equally therapeutic.
What do your family think you do all day?
Verbatim: "Something to do with computers", "A businessman", "Selling clouds".
Who has been your mentor in business?
I won't embarrass him here, but he knows who he is. A good friend, with sage advice and honest feedback. He never fails to be upbeat, with incredible passion and energy for everything he does.
