Managing director, Commercial Group

Tell us something most people won't know about you

I was bright ginger in my teens and I am blind in one eye - it helped to build character!

What has been your highlight of 2018 so far?

Winning the Queens Award. Walking arm-in-arm with my brother up the steps of Buckingham Palace - it was surreal for both of us.

Who would play you in the film of your life?

ulia Roberts - she is a fighter and adorable in equal measure.

Which tech firm (other than your own!) do you most admire?

Tesla - it has simply changed the motor industry forever and is leading the world in thought leadership about sustainability. I defy anyone not to scream in Ludicrous Mode.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Wine. Followed by over-enthusiastic dancing. Which is not good when you are built like a giraffe.

What is the most irritating tech buzzphrase of 2018?

‘Yoyo mode' - I heard this a month ago. I think the phrase is hilarious but hate it when it happens.

What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?

I would make everyone watch https://vimeo.com/157242002. Then I would ban all single-use plastics unless companies can prove they cannot operate without it. Missions like this unite workforces, communities and countries and they stimulate innovation for the right reasons.

What's the biggest untapped opportunity facing the channel?

To help companies to make better buying decisions when it comes to their IT. Not enough thought is given to the environmental damage that the cloud pumps into our atmosphere. I'd love to see companies be more clever about this.

What is your most treasured possession?

My apartment in Ibiza - I always dreamed of sitting on my balcony overlooking the sea. When I bought it, before it was furnished I found a cushion on the beach. Every morning I would make a cup of tea and cry tears of joy at my good fortune.

What do your family think you do all day?

When my daughter was five she asked me what The Boss did. I said, "It's like being the lead singer of the band!" She said, "Mummy you need to practise singing more!"

Who has been your mentor in business?

My dad. He was an amazing entrepreneur with a moral compass to match. Sadly he passed away five years ago. However, I have a painting of him and every morning I have a quick chat about my intentions for the day. I aim to make him proud and that keeps me on the right track.
