CRN roundtable: The forgotten man of IT security?

Despite their huge spending power SMEs' security needs aren't being met. We explore how the channel can help in this Sophos-commissioned debate

In this Sophos-commissioned roundtable, CRN deputy editor Doug Woodburn facilitates a debate between Sophos and some of the UK's leading distributors and resellers.

Despite their huge spending power and complex needs, SMEs have arguably been an after-thought for IT security vendors and suppliers.

According to Sophos research, one in five UK SMEs suffered a network outage due to a malware infection last year. In light of this, how should the channel change its tack to ensure their security demands are met? Where will SMEs invest their security budgets over the next year and is it fair to say that anti-virus is yesterday's man?

All these questions and more were tackled by a panel comprising Sophos' Chris Pace, Steve Cox, CTO of TSG, Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill and Jon Martin, product group manager at Computerlinks.
