Career outline While selling computers to fellow students at university, I spent the money as quickly as I earned it, but I realising there was real money to made in this venture and embarked on a path that has led to the formation of one of the UK’s fastest-growing IT companies.

What motivates you every morning to get up and work in the channel? Keeping my customers happy. If I don’t, they call me in the middle of the night to tell me why.

What has been the most over-hyped technology in the past five years? A particular brand of pearlescent white digital music player.

What will be the most underrated technology in the next five years? Disposable mobile phones.

Which technology would you most like to have invented? The digital watch.

Do you have any regrets from your time in the industry? Not yet. I haven’t had time.

If you could swap places with anyone in the industry, who would it be? Bill Gates. You know you’re doing OK when you have to take a taxi from one end of the office to the other.

What is the biggest hurdle you have faced in your career? Finding staff with both technical and interpersonal skills to fit the LuxTech culture.

What is the biggest success of your career? Raising LuxTech from nothing to a £4.5m turnover company in three years.

What piece of technology could you not live without? Satellite navigation.

What would be your advice to anyone starting a career in IT? Pay attention to detail. It’s often the little things that keep clients happy.

What is your favorite computer game? Chuckie Egg.
