W hat motivates you every morning to get up and work in the channel? The impact that our services have upon our customers as they realise full value from their IT investment.

What has been the most over-hyped technology in the past five years? In the SME market where we focus, I think that the whole Client-Server Application Architecture debate reflected poorly upon the IT sector.

What will be the most underrated technology in the next five years? Probably speech recognition.

Which technology would you most like to have invented? Satellite navigation systems.

D o you have any regrets from your time in the industry? No.

If you could swap places with anyone in the industry, who would it be? My boss. He seems to find enough time to go horse racing.

What is the biggest hurdle you have faced in your career? Setting up TSG from scratch and getting the right businesses to sell to us (at the right price).

What is the biggest success of your career? Getting TSG across the starting line and seeing the brand and services develop as originally envisaged.

What piece of technology could you not live without? Outlook.

What would be your advice to anyone starting a career in IT? Understand the market, understand the true value of the technology, focus on services.

What is your favourite computer game? Tetris (I’m still in the dark ages).
