Career outline: I worked at Vodafone and Allied Telesyn before joining Netgear in 2002 to head up distribution and VAR sales. Since 2004 I’ve been managing director.

What motivates you every morning to get up and work in the channel? Enjoyment of my job.

What has been the most over-hyped technology in the past five years? Voice over IP seems to have been talked about for as long as I can remember.

What will be the most underrated technology in the next five years? I’m looking forward to when vendors such as Netgear start shipping digital media players. It’s underrated, but it is set to revolutionise the way we play and share our media in the home.

Which technology would you most like to have invented? Transporters; flying is so boring.

Do you have any regrets from your time in the industry? No.

If you could swap places with anyone in the industry, who would it be? Netgear is on such a high currently there is no other manufacturer I would rather be at.

What is the biggest hurdle you have faced in your career? Understanding the technology, networking always seemed so complicated in the early days.

What is the biggest success of your career? It has to be joining Netgear and being part of the success story within the UK.

What piece of technology could you not live without? My Palm Treo.

What would be your advice to anyone starting a career in IT? It’s a great industry, you have great opportunities to earn lots of money, you may get to go to places that you would never have dreamed of seeing, so enjoy it.

What is your favorite computer game? Tiger Woods PGA Golf.

What would you like for Christmas if you could have anything? An island in the Seychelles.

What is your favorite karaoke song? Lady in Red, by Chris De Burgh

What would be the title of your autobiography? It’s All About Me.

Do you have any phobias? No. But I have some strange habits, like putting my left sock on before my right and looking in the bath as soon as I walk into a bathroom.
