Fujitsu

Computer Associates reported a 14 per cent hike in net profit for its fiscal fourth quarter as a result of strong sales of its client/server software. The supplier saw revenue increase by 11 per cent to $1.63 billion for the quarter ended 31 March and net income of $457.9 million or $0.83, compared with $422.8 million in the same quarter a year ago.

JD Edwards

JD Edwards has posted its first ever loss for its second quarter, blaming a slowdown in sales for enterprise resource planning applications as a result of the year 2000 problem. The vendor saw revenue increase by 11 per cent to $231.6 million, but turned in a net loss of $10.4 million or $0.10 per share, compared with profit of $12.3 million or $0.11 per share in the same quarter a year ago.

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Electric was feeling the effects of a widespread restructuring plan - in which it pulled out of PCS - as it registered a Y113.7 billion loss for the year ended 31 March. The company posted revenue of Y3.79 trillion for the period, similar to the previous year's results.

Cisco

Cisco Systems has emerged unscathed from a US government investigation into alleged anti-competitive behaviour by the networking giant. The Federal Trade Commission said it had ended its inquiry - launched in September last year - into partnership talks that Cisco had with rival vendors Nortel Networks and Lucent

Technologies. The negotiations could have dramatically reshaped the networking market.
