Dane-Elec

Dane-Elec achieved sales of #121 million for 1998, representing an increase of 23.3 per cent, as well as a twofold increase in income from operations and strong growth of 75.4 per cent in net income. The distributor expects to benefit this year from the anticipated take-off of the semiconductor market and the development of internet technologies.

Datrontech

Datrontech is investigating a shortfall in profit at its Polish subsidiary.

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, the UK components distributor said: 'The exact nature of this shortfall in profit have not been ascertained and, potentially, it may have a material effect on Datrontech's results for the year ended 31 December 1998.'

Amazon.com

Amazon.com is increasing its collection of authorised shares to help fund acquisitions and alliances.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Amazon said it wants to boost the number of authorised shares from 300 million to 1.5 billion.

Adobe

Graphics software vendor Adobe generated revenue of $226.9 million, up from $197.8 million a year ago, and turned in net income of $38.3 million, up from $26.7 million in the same quarter a year ago. Earnings per share were $0.60, exceeding the First Call analysts' consensus estimate by $0.08.

About 43 per cent of revenue was generated from the Macintosh platform.

This was attributed to the growing sales of Apple's PowerMac G3 system.
