Career outline I was a royal marine commando, then I went into IT recruitment. From there I went into direct sales working for a VAR. I rose through the ranks to sales director before setting up Fresh Egg in 2002.

What motivates you every morning to get up and work in the channel? My team and our partners. A very interesting and exciting collection of people. Each day brings new challenges and I like that.

What has been the most over-hyped technology in the past five years? Barracuda.

What will be the most underrated technology in the next five years? Anything new that we don’t understand.

Which technology would you most like to have invented? Skype.

Do you have any regrets from your time in the industry? None. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

If you could swap places with anyone in the industry, who would it be? No one.

What is the biggest hurdle you have faced in your career? Telling my wife I was going to remortgage when I was setting up my company.

What piece of technology could you not live without? My mobile.

What would be your advice to anyone starting a career in IT? You have two eyes, two ears and one mouth. Use them all in that proportion.

What would you like for Christmas if you could have anything? Not to have the in-laws over for dinner.
