UK schools still uncertain over security

A recent survey of 20,000 primary and secondary schools across the UK has pointed to a lack of understanding of the security solutions available to protect them.

The survey, conducted by value-add distributor Northamber, revealed that while there is good knowledge of the requirements placed on schools to protect their students and staff from e-security risks and radicalisation, they are in need of guidance from the channel when it comes to picking the right solutions.

Northamber's education and security solutions teams conduct regular surveys, using the results to provide updates and market intelligence to help their resellers engage with schools and to sell the exact solutions they need.

Alex Phillips, director of strategy at Northamber said: "Our survey shows that around half of respondents are unaware of how or if their school meets government requirements on real-time reporting.

The survey also showed that schools are fairly evenly split in their desire to implement on-site security solutions compared with using managed services.
