HP Procurve unveils new leader

Networking vendor recruits from within the ranks of parent HP to fill vacancy

Networking vendor HP Procurve has moved swiftly to replace its recently departed general manager, John McHugh, after appointing Marius Haas to lead the company's worldwide operations.

Haas was previously HP's senior vice president of strategy and corporate development, a role now assumed by Brian Humphries, who was previously vice president of finance for HP Services. Humphries will be responsible for overseeing HP's merger and acquisition activities. Both he and Haas will report to Shane Robison, HP's executive vice president.

Haas takes on his new role less than a fortnight after the shock departure of previous incumbent John McHugh, who helped build Procurve into a major player in the market, with revenues of more than $1bn. Haas has been tasked with continuing to improve Procurve's burgeoning market share.

Robison said: "Marius has a tremendous track record of executing against HP’s key strategic initiatives. He is the right leader to continue driving ProCurve’s aggressive market share gains.”
