EquIP to support casualties of Datrontech fall

Convergence distributor EquIP Technology has set up a free support scheme to help networking resellers left in the lurch by the demise of Datrontech.
It is offering resellers pre- and post-sales support to help them through any problems their customers may have with products that were installed through the distributor.
Data Connectivity, the networking division of Datrontech, was run by the two co-founders of EquIP, Neil Ledger and Ian Morris.
Ledger, founder of Data Connectivity, admitted the move was an attempt to grab the company's reseller partners. "I have long-standing associations with those guys. I knew them all at Data Connectivity and we have the same vendors and customer contacts. The free support is not just a spoon full of sugar before they take their convergence medicine. We are offering them the best alternative to their current supplier."
Over the last six months key sales and technical support staff have joined EquIP from Data Connectivity, including Grahame Smee, sales director, Sean Remnant, technical manager, and Simon Rose, post sales manager.
"It is always sad to see a company fail, but there are other casualties involved: the resellers. We are in discussion with many of the vendor franchises that [Datrontech] has been selling and have recently signed a distribution agreement with Ericsson. We are confident we can offer them the product portfolio they are looking for and some new technologies that may complement their businesses," said Ledger.
